Located in a historical district, this home in Bristol, CT received a new roof from Klaus Larsen. Being an older roof with cedar shakes, the team got right to work. After tearing off one layer of existing roofing materials, all damaged plywood decking was replaced. Three rows of Owens Corning Weatherlock G Ice & Water Shield was installed, along with an aluminum drip edge/rake flashing. Owens Corning Duration TruDefinition Shingles, in the color of Colonial Slate, was used. The chimney flashing was removed and replaced.

This cape-style home located in Bristol, CT had two layers of existing shingles on it, the original being installed over 50 years ago! They were in desperate need of a complete tear-off and re-roof. Once we stripped both layers, we replaced 5 sheets of damaged plywood decking. Then, we laid down Weatherlock G Ice & Water Shield to protect the home from any outside moisture. For new shingles, we used Owens Corning Oakridge Shingles in the color Onyx Black. Around the chimney we removed the old flashing and installed new copper flashing. This home can now tackle any weather conditions, worry free!

Roof replacement experts in Bristol, CT

Do you have an older roof or one that has been severely damaged? Klaus Larsen LLC provides the comprehensive roof replacement services that you need.

While a roof repair might seem like the more affordable option, this is rarely the case with older roofs. A repair is effectively only a band-aid and can't take care of the root of the problem. Therefore the problem is likely to recur at some point. While individual repairs may be cheap, frequent repairs very quickly add up to an expensive problem.

A roof repair also provides little to no boost to your home’s curb appeal while a roof replacement has an immediate and drastic impact. Some homeowners even have their roof replaced solely for aesthetic reasons.

At Klaus Larsen LLC we can provide the quality roof replacement that you need. We offer a wide range of different roofing materials, work with leading manufacturers, and boast an incredible, professional team. Keep your roof, and home, healthy for years to come with an attractive and durable new roof from Klaus Larsen LLC!

Gutter contractor in Bristol, CT

Another important part of your exterior is the gutter system. Your roof can do all it wants to protect your home from the elements, but it would be almost completely ineffectual without a well-maintained gutter system. Overflowing gutters or gutters that don't drain properly will simply damage the siding, roof, or flood the basement.

At Klaus Larsen LLC we can help you with any of your gutter needs including:

  • Gutter installation
  • Gutter guard installation

Are you interested in a roof replacement or new gutters? Klaus Larsen LLC is here to help. Contact us online today to schedule your free cost estimate in Bristol, CT!

Roof Replacement on 2-Family home in Bristol, CT

This 2 family home in Bristol had four layers of roofing on the existing structure. The first layer was the original roof of wooden cedar roofing with three layers of asphalt roofing on top. There was also no plywood on the rafters, just furring strips running between the framing. Furrings strips are strong enough to hold cedar roofing but not for asphalt. To strengthen the decking properly, we installed 1/2” CDX plywood over the furring strips. Once the decking was done, the Ice & Water barrier was installed 9 feet up the roof and filling the valleys. The remaining plywood was covered in synthetic underlayment. After the underlayment, the drip edge and starter shingles are nailed around the perimeter of the roof. Lastly, the Owens Corning Architectural shingles were nailed with 6 nails each. The roofing project included ridge vent, ridge shingles, and a complete clean-up of nails and leftover debris.
