We have serviced dozens of homes in the town of Columbia and this home, in particular, needed a roof replacement. The owners received a quote on their roof on the same day we visited and decided to go with Owens Corning architectural shingles. When the project started, our crews covered the area with large thick tarps to protect the house and yard. The old shingles were torn off by the crew and disposed of in order to be recycled. Then the roof deck was renailed and inspected for rotten or damaged boards. The roofing was now ready for the installation process. The first part of the installation is the Starter Shingles on the eaves and rakes. Klaus Larsen LLC goes above the standard and installed nine feet of Ice & Water barrier. ProArmor synthetic underlayment was installed above the Ice & Water barrier and an 8-inch drip edge was installed around the perimeter of the house. Finally, the new Owens Corning Duration Shingles were installed with 6 nails per shingle giving the roof a 130 mph wind rating. The entire roof from Starter Shingles to the Duration Shingles is guaranteed by our 50-year full Platinum Warranty through Owens Corning.
This was a Cape style house with an additional two-car garage. The roof was 18 years old, with two layers that were removed and carefully disposed of. In addition to installing ventilation within the roof, we also added a ridge vent to the garage. The finished shingles are Pacific Wave, and as always, are ensured by an Owens Corning Life Time Warranty.
