This raised ranch in Coventry had a roof that was about twenty two years old. The chimney was in dire need of flashing as well as repointing. This refers to repairing the mortar in between the bricks, so that the full structure is totally waterproof. As these shingles fully settle in, we will have another roofing project that we at Klaus Larsen are proud to put our name on.
The roof was the first step in the renovation of this highly ornate & historic home in Coventry, CT. Our greatest overall challenge was working with so many complicated angles, including curved overhangs on the dormers. For the decking, each piece of plywood had to be custom cut in order to compensate for the more obscure corners, before being nailed directly into strips of skip-sheathing.
This project in Coventry, CT involved the removal of 3-Tab shingles on both a home, breeze way, garage and additional detached garage, built around 1960. All structures were roofed in the same method. Part of our structural repairs involved removing the wood stove chimney and sealing the opening with plywood. Along with a ridge vent, we replaced all vent pipe boots and flashed the chimney with lead.
This home in Coventry had an old roof with vast problems underneath. Most of the plywood was ruined from water and mold. Also, the bathroom fans blew out of the soffit and not through the roof vent. When the roof was torn off, the damaged plywood was removed and new bathroom exhaust fans were installed.
Our crew installed the new roof on the main house and the garage. This project included replacing all damaged plywood decking on the roof as well as repairing siding on the home.
