Copper Cat

Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 by Lawrence Lambert

Copper Cat is a system for preventing algae growth on shingle roofs. Algae feed off limestone which is a primary ingredient in asphalt shingles. The moisture from storms then promotes growth. The algae keep moisture on the shingles and can promote the growth of lichen. When Copper Cat is installed it is shiny but over some years it will oxidize and blend in with the shingle color. It will continue to be effective over the life of your roof. Because it is easy to install this can be used when installing a new roof or on existing asphalt roofs.

Copper Cat is more than 20x effective than conventional zinc strips. Copper Cat filters rainwater more effectively releasing ions to clean and maintain the appearance and performance of the roof longer.
