Roof Replacement Before & After Photos

The owners had an old roof that was standing on its last leg. They knew they had to replace it soon or otherwise they would have real problems. It was not simple, however, because they had several old dome skylights in their porch. Skylights are an extra cost to replace and the owners didn't use them much. After our crews tore off the roof, the removed the skylights are installed new 1/2" CDX plywood over the openings. Once the skylights openings were sealed the roofing system could go over the framing.

Dean in Groton, CT, was a returning customer who once again trusted our team to help protect his home. This project involved a full roof replacement on both the main house and detached garage, along with improvements to several areas that required special attention.

One unique aspect of this home was the attic configuration. Because the attic space had been finished, there was no access to inspect the roof decking or ventilation system from below. In addition to the main roof areas, the home featured two low-slope roof sections that required specialized attention.

The exposed low-slope section received a replacement, while the covered porch section underwent a more extensive restoration. After removing the existing materials, our crew replaced damaged wood decking, installed insulation board, and finished the area with a new EPDM roofing membrane. The membrane was extended up adjoining wall sections and completed with PVC trim and drip-edge details to create a clean, watertight finish.

For the main roofing surfaces, Dean selected IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Granite Black. The bold color complemented the home's exterior and gave both the house and detached garage a sharp, updated appearance.

By addressing every roofing component, from shingles and flashings to low-slope sections and roof penetrations, the home received an upgrade designed for long-term performance.

With the project complete, Dean's home and detached garage now feature a refreshed look and reliable protection, backed by a roofing system built to handle the demands of New England weather.

Nature can only be kept at bay for so long. On this Gales Ferry project, the roof was being smothered by lichen and moss. Aside from being unsightly, moss retains moisture and will hasten the damage done by frost in the winter months. Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Tan shingles were used to restore this roof, and give it a healthy new glow.
